Steve concentrates his practice in civil litigation defense and was recognized by Illinois Super Lawyers in 2013 and 2014 in the area of civil litigation defense. He is a presenter on aviation accident litigation at the annual EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and has been a guest lecturer at the John Marshall Law School on the topics of aircraft manufacturer liability, government regulation and administrative law in aviation, federal preemption in aviation law, international aviation law, aviation tort and insurance issues, and discovery and evidentiary matters for trial. He has also been a guest lecturer at the I.I.T.-Chicago Kent College of Law and has spoken numerous times before the Chicago Bar Association Aviation Law Committee on a variety of aviation law topics.
Steve was admitted to practice in Illinois in 1978 and is admitted to the General and Trial Bars of United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He is a 1974 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a 1978 graduate with honors from the I.I.T. – Chicago Kent College of Law, and has attended the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. Steve is a member of the American, Illinois State and Chicago Bar Associations, a former chairperson and vice-chairperson of the Chicago Bar Association Aviation Law Committee, and a member of the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association and the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel. In addition to being a certificated private pilot, Steve is a former President and Board Member of the Stick and Rudder Flying Club at the Waukegan Regional Airport in Waukegan, Illinois, former Secretary of the Palwaukee Airport Pilots Association Board of Directors, and former Secretary of the Palwaukee Airport Pilots Association Scholarship Fund Board of Directors.
